5,760 Dozen Eggs to NB Food Banks
Community Effort: Egg Farmers of NB Donate 5,760 Dozen Eggs to Food Banks Across the Province
With thousands of families in New Brunswick currently experiencing food insecurity, Egg Farmers of New Brunswick is proud to donate 5,760 dozen eggs to the Food Depot Alimentaire in Moncton, where they will be distributed to all 60 food banks across the province.
“New Brunswick’s Egg Farmers’ know how hard it is to feed a family every day, and in these challenging times, it’s even harder” says Hans Kristensen, Chairman of Egg Farmers of New Brunswick. “With so many struggling with the effects of COVID-19, we wanted to step up and do something extra to help those families the most in need.”
Nearly 6,000 dozen medium eggs were delivered to the Food Depot Alimentaire by Early Bird Eggs, a local grader in Keswick, NB. This donation reinforces a longstanding commitment by New Brunswick’s 16 egg farmers and farm families to support their neighbours, community members and fellow Canadians.
Offering nutritious food is a main priority for Chantal Senecal, Executive Director of Food Depot Alimentaire. “We are so grateful to have received this excellent source of protein for all 60 food banks in New Brunswick,” says Senecal. “These eggs will be going out for delivery next week from the Food Depot Alimentaire to all of our partner food banks…and couldn’t be done without generous local partners like the Egg Farmers of New Brunswick.”
With this donation, over 5,000 New Brunswick families will receive a dozen nutritious and delicious eggs produced locally in the province, compliments of the farm families that produced them. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to have a deep impact across the country, food banks are critical resources to ensure vulnerable Canadians receive support and nourishing food.
Egg Farmers of New Brunswick is proud to join the New Brunswick Food Banks in the fight against hunger and help put food on the table for friends and neighbours.
