Statement from EFNB Re: Proposed Phase-Out of Provincial Vet and Lab Services

Egg Farmers of New Brunswick recognizes the significance of the recent announcement by the provincial government regarding the phased transition of provincial veterinary and laboratory services over the next three years.
While any reduction in services is never taken lightly, we understand the importance of fiscal responsibility and the need for governments to make difficult decisions in managing public resources.
Throughout this transition our priority remains clear: ensuring that New Brunswick egg farmers continue to operate under the highest standards of animal care, biosecurity, and food safety. We want to reassure both our farmers and the public that EFNB is committed to maintaining a safe, reliable, and high-quality egg supply throughout this transition.
We will work collaboratively with the Government of New Brunswick and industry partners to identify and implement alternative service solutions that meet the needs of our sector. This includes ensuring continued access to veterinary expertise, diagnostic services, and the strong oversight that consumers expect and trust.
New Brunswick’s egg farmers have a long-standing reputation for producing safe, healthy, and high-quality food. That commitment will not change. EFNB will take all necessary steps to support our farmers and uphold the confidence of consumers across the province.
